What to Look for in a TCK Support Community
Not all TCK communities are the same. Here is how to evaluate whether a community, forum, or group is genuinely useful for your situation.
Not All TCK Communities Are Equal
The TCK community is large and varied. Some spaces are primarily for sharing nostalgic "you know you’re a TCK when" content. Others are serious support communities with facilitated discussions and professional involvement. Still others are narrowly focused on a specific subtype — MKs, military kids, a particular region. Knowing what you are looking for helps you evaluate what you find.
- What specifically do you need from a TCK community right now — connection, information, professional support, or something else?
- Does the community you are considering have active moderation and a genuinely supportive culture?
- Is the community focused on the subtype of TCK experience most relevant to you?
- Does the community’s approach to the TCK experience feel honest about both the gifts and the difficulties, or does it skew heavily toward one?
