About A Qualitative Exploration of Repatriation Experiences of US TCKs in College
This study explored the repatriation experiences of 20 US TCKs at three American colleges or universities. Using constructivism influenced by Erikson's developmental stages and Kübler-Ross grief stages, researchers found key themes: struggling with cultural changes, attempts to recreate the third culture, feelings of anger and depression related to the TCK experience, and a longing to have a voice. The study recommended that colleges and universities identify TCKs and help create TCK networks to facilitate higher education transitions. Published in the Journal of College Student Development.
