About Adult MKs Reentry into the United States After High School
This study surveyed 72 American missionary kids about their reentry experiences after returning to the US following high school overseas. Factors most affecting positive cultural adjustment: amount of exposure to American culture, frequency of visits to the United States, and amount of contact with family and friends in the United States. Only 37% of respondents had participated in a reentry program. The study suggested a reentry program may be a helpful step in mitigating reentry struggles and called for more organizations to offer reentry support.
