About Are Former Third-Culture Kids the Ideal Business Expatriates?
This study explored the suitability of adult third culture kids as overseas business employees. Key findings: ATCKs adapt well, belong to all experienced cultures rather than just one, and bring cross-cultural competence from childhood experience. ATCKs were found to have the characteristics that make potentially successful expatriates as adults. The study identified being physically distinct in a group, expecting to return to a passport country, living a privileged existence relative to host country nationals, and having a tendency to closely identify with a sending organization as common ATCK traits.
