About Cross-Cultural Reentry for Missionaries: Dual Process Model Application
This study applied Stroebe and Schut's Dual Process Model (DPM) of coping with bereavement to missionary reentry. Fifteen overseas missionary workers were interviewed. The DPM suggests healthy grief processing involves both confrontation of loss and acceptance, oscillating between loss-orientation and restoration-orientation. The study argued that TCK repatriation involves a grief process that is best addressed through the DPM framework. Published in Omega: Journal of Death and Dying.
