This 2023 doctoral dissertation from the American College of Education explored the lived experiences of TCKs who underwent reentry training. Five adult missionary kid (MK) participants were interviewed over 60-minute semi-structured Zoom sessions. Three key themes emerged: a sense of normalcy, reassurance, or belonging; a sense of being in the same boat with others; and a sense of safety, comfort, or confidence in moving forward. All five participants reported highly positive experiences and unanimously recommended that all TCKs undergo reentry training if given the opportunity. This is the first qualitative study specifically focused on the TCK reentry training experience.
